North Shore News2023 Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational Champion
On January 25, 2023 Mayor Blangiardi visited with North Shore lifeguards at Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Laniakea to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to keeping everyone safe all year long but in particular during the high surf event at Waimea Bay.
The Mayor’s main visit to the North Shore was to meet with Luke Shepardson. The meeting took place at Rock Piles and was also attended by Lt. Atwood, Dr. Jim Ireland, Luke’s brother and fellow C&C lifeguards.
Mayor Blangiardi wanted to honor Luke for his incredible achievement on Sunday, January 22 for his impressive victory at Waimea Bay and for his service to the community and the City by proclaiming January 25, 2023 ‘Luke Shepardson Day’ on O’ahu.
