The Chamber wanted to update the community on the COYSA youth transitional home which was featured in our
North Shore News article last August. The COYSA funding and approval process has met with some delays and financial setbacks, which Bonnie Cordeiro, current Program Director, informed us can be remedied with support from the community. Also, Bonnie asked us to help find anyone who has the expertise to volunteer on the board, to help make the COYSA home happen. It’s doors, located across from Haleiwa Elementary School, are indefinitely closed until the needed funding and finalizing from Child Welfare Services.

COYSA’s mission is to help abused, neglected youth, who are court-supervised, have a temporary home and
obtain permanent safe housing in the future.

The holidays are an important time to give and consider the needs of those who have less than we do. I
urge you to reach out to Bonnie at 808-497-5959 or email bonniecordeiro@msn.com. Questions can also be directed to Roxana Jimenez at the Chamber, 637-4558 or by email roxana@gonorthshore.org.
