Californian Wins Triple Crown For First Time

Freshly qualified for the 2018 CT, Griffin Colapinto (USA), 19, added to his thriving season by taking the 35th Annual Vans Triple Crown of Sur ng honor and became the rst Californian to ever win the coveted sur ng series. Colapinto captured a runner up finish at the rst Vans Triple Crown jewel, the Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa Ali‘i Beach Park, then went on to nal at the second event, the Vans World Cup at Sunset Beach, for a commanding lead on the series. Colapinto was awarded a beautiful carved surfboard by North Shore artist Ruben Aira Jr. who created the carving tools and techniques that are one of a kind.
